Dr. Thurman is a William Neal Reynolds Professor of Agricultural & Resource Economics at NC State. His research and teaching interests are in agricultural and natural resource economics. Recent research at the nexus of agricultural and natural resource economics includes the evaluation of land conservation policy effectiveness, analysis of market coordination of pollination services by honeybees, the potential costs of honeybee disease (Colony Collapse Disorder), and analysis of forestry and fishery markets. Dr. Thurman has served as an editor of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics and is a Senior Fellow of the Property and Environment Research Center. He teaches undergraduate courses in agricultural markets and graduate courses in econometrics.
