Former NCSU PhD student and CEnREP alum Andrew Hutchens has accepted a tenure-track Assistant Professorship of Economics, in the Jaggi School of Business at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Hutchens graduated in 2024. Since then, he has been a post-doc in the Center for Energy, Transportation, and Environmental Policy (CETEP) at the University of Tennessee. During that time, he researched generation technology integration and large demand sources in wholesale electricity markets. His work included estimating the effect of coal power plant retirements on local education funding and identifying the determinants of nuclear power plant construction outcomes. At the Missouri University of Science and Technology, he will be joining a growing department that is committed to high-quality energy and environmental economics research, at an R1 university with an excellent interdisciplinary research environment. Congratulations, Andrew!
