On March 19, 2026, Professor and CEnREP Director Spencer Banzhaf delivered a public lecture at the London School of Economics titled “The Nature of Economics and the Economics of Nature.” The address was part of a series inaugurating the first year of LSE’s new Global School of Sustainability, in this case in collaboration with the Department of Economic History. In his lecture, Banzhaf discussed how shifting definitions of both “economics” and “the environment” over the past century have enabled the emergence of a newer environmental economics.
